Dr. Destiny Davenport is a senior patent agent who focuses on preparing and prosecuting domestic and foreign patent applications, specifically relating to output traits in crop plants and agricultural biotechnology.
Destiny also assists attorneys with patentability opinions and freedom to operate analyses. Her technical experience includes agricultural trait development, viral vector delivery technology with a focus on siRNA, engineered capsid technology, adeno-associated virus vector gene delivery systems, therapeutic peptides and antibodies, and other molecular technologies. Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Destiny was a senior patent agent for a transatlantic law firm, and spent almost a decade as a senior patent agent for a global biotechnology chemical company, where she prepared and managed a large intellectual property portfolio in the field of agricultural biotechnology, including agronomic traits and enabling technologies in emerging molecular biology fields.
Destiny received her Ph.D. in biomedical sciences from the University of South Carolina. Her postdoctoral fellowship in the Laboratory of Molecular Carcinogenesis at the National Institutes of Environmental Health Sciences involved establishing multi-institutional collaborations for developing new clinical screening tools for early stage colon cancer and uterine fibroid progression as well as standard operating procedures for the core proteomics facility.
Prior to graduate school, Destiny was a research assistant at the Department of Pathology and Microbiology at the University of South Carolina. She received her B.S. in biology from Francis Marion University.Show More
