Egbert de Groot is an associate in the Corporate Department of Morrison & Foerster’s New York office. His practice focuses on private equity, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and project development involving a variety of energy and infrastructure projects throughout the country.

Mr. de Groot regularly represents private equity funds, private companies, private and public clients, and investment banking firms in M&A, private equity, joint venture, development, and other complex transactions.

Mr. de Groot has represented clients in the acquisition, development, construction, operation and disposition of infrastructure projects, including utility-scale energy projects across a range of technologies such as solar, wind, hydro, natural gas, and biomass. Mr. de Groot’s practice includes advising the firms’ clients in the negotiation of intricate power purchase agreements, construction contracts, and long term maintenance agreements.

Prior to his work at Morrison & Foerster, Mr. de Groot was the director of sales and subsequently the executive director of development for the Canadian division of one of the world's top three utility-scale wind turbine original equipment manufacturers, as well as being a rooftop solar developer. His experience in these roles provides him with a thorough understanding of the business needs and practical concerns of the firms’ clients.

Mr. de Groot received his B.Eng. (Mechanical) from McGill University, where he also earned and his B.C.L. and LL.B. degrees.
