Represented Clari, a software company focusing on revenue forecasting and intelligence, in a seven-patent lawsuit brought by competitor People.ai. Gene successfully transferred the case from the District of Delaware to the Northern District of California, obtained judgment on the pleadings of patent invalidity under § 101, and argued the Federal Circuit appeal in which the judgment of invalidity was upheld.
(Northern District of California) Helped secure a $178 million patent infringement trial verdict for a Bay Area drug development company against a major pharmaceutical multinational.
(San Francisco Superior Court) Obtained a writ of mandate invalidating a government regulation purporting to ban licensed laboratories from performing certain types of pre-natal screenings in California unless they entered into a contract with the state.
(District of Delaware). Represented 10x Genomics, a life sciences technology company and a worldwide leader in genomics, in a patent infringement suit against Celsee.
(Central District of California/Southern District of New York) Represents Bay Area start-up UpCodes, which publishes the building codes of various jurisdictions, in lawsuits against law publishers asserting copyright in the building codes as adopted into law.
