Fahd H. Patel is an associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property Group. Mr. Patel focuses his practice on patent litigation before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and in district courts. His specific experience includes pre-filing diligence and advisement on strategic patent acquisitions, propounding and responding to discovery, claim construction, taking fact and expert depositions, preparing expert witnesses for deposition and trial, drafting expert reports, and writing motions and other briefs. He has participated in the pre-trial, discovery, trial, and post-trial phases of litigation.
In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Patel practices before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). He has prepared multiple petitions for inter partes review and petition responses under the America Invents Act (AIA), as well as inter partes and ex parte reexamination requests. Mr. Patel has drafted patent applications, responded to office actions, and successfully conducted two oral arguments at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board at the USPTO.
Mr. Patel also served as a patent examiner at the USPTO, where he examined applications in the areas of computer software, telecommunications, and business methods. He has experience working as a systems engineer, designing and coordinating the installation of physical security systems at government and military installations. His technical background includes telecommunications systems, computer networking, databases, memory interfaces, computer architecture, operating systems, digital rights management, business methods, and computerized financial transactions.
Mr. Patel received his B.S. in computer engineering, with honors, from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.
Mr. Patel is admitted to practice before the USPTO.
