Gemma Anderson is a partner of Morrison & Foerster (International) LLP, based in the London office. She is a commercial litigator specializing in complex contractual and financial matters, technology disputes, and contentious insolvency and restructuring issues. She regularly advises clients in the U.S., Europe, Asia and Australasia on pre-litigation strategy and commercial litigation and arbitration matters with an English law nexus.

Ms. Anderson handles claims through the full range of dispute resolution mechanisms. She has represented clients in relation to large-scale commercial litigation in the English Commercial Court, Chancery Division and Court of Appeal. She also has extensive experience of arbitration, including international and domestic arbitrations under both institutional and ad hoc rules.

Before becoming a partner in 2017, Ms. Anderson was ranked in Chambers UK, 2016 and 2015 as an “Associate to watch” in London litigation. Chambers UK, 2016 identifies her as an up-and-coming associate in the London litigation market, with specific expertise in the technology sector; Chambers UK, 2015 notes that she “attracts praise from sources for her litigation practice”. Ms. Anderson was also shortlisted in the “Rising Star: Litigation” category at the Euromoney European Women in Business Law Awards 2015 and 2016.

Ms. Anderson graduated from the University of Auckland with Bachelors of Law (Honours) and Commerce in 2005 and was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in February 2006. Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Ms. Anderson practised at a specialist litigation firm in New Zealand, before completing her Master of Law (First Class Honours) at the University of Cambridge in 2009.
