Gerold Bezzenberger is of counsel at Morrison & Foerster’s German office in Berlin.

His practice focuses on German and international clients in corporate law, company law and civil procedure law, as well as on their boards in issues of liability. Questions of succession and inheritance law are an additional focus of his work.

Throughout his legal career, Mr. Bezzenberger has contributed to significant developments in corporate law, and he had significant influence on decisions of the German Federal Court of Justice concerning central issues. He has represented and advised numerous leading German companies in corporate law issues, as well as in court proceedings.

As a member of numerous supervisory boards of German and international companies, he has participated in numerous corporate decisions. For 35 years, Mr. Bezzenberger was admitted as a notary, where his main areas of practice included mergers, acquisitions, restructurings and annual meetings of shareholders of corporations, as well as formulating corporation statutes.

For more than twenty years, Mr. Bezzenberger served as vice president of the executive committee of the board of Deutsche Schutzvereinigung für Wertpapierbesitz (the leading German association for private investors). His extensive contributions were singularly honored with a commemorative publication in 2007.

Mr. Bezzenberger has published numerous essays and articles in law journals on corporate law-related and litigation topics. He is the author of a leading German corporate law handbook and of the leading commentary for stock corporations’ law.
