Dr. Hannah Whitmore focuses on patent drafting and prosecution with an emphasis on chemistry.
Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Hannah was a post-doctoral research fellow at Harvard Medical School in the Department of Ophthalmology, where she investigated pathogenic signaling pathways and transcription factors involved in retinal damage in the eye, specifically within the context of diabetic eye disease. She also collaborated with life sciences startup companies in researching proprietary antibodies and how they can be used for retinal regeneration.
Hannah earned her Ph.D. in natural products and synthetic organic chemistry as well as her masters in medicinal chemistry, with first class honors, from the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom. She was awarded the University of Surrey Research Scholarship and the Royal Society of Chemistry Ph.D. Student of the Year Award. Her research focused on the identification and characterization of novel, natural source small molecules and their synthetic derivatives for use in the treatment of blinding eye diseases. Hannah spent her placement year in UK government science laboratories, researching detection methods for illicit drugs and explosives.Show More
