Heriberto Alvarez focuses his practice on labor and employment and commercial litigation matters. Mr. Alvarez litigates cases in state and federal courts, and his experience includes all phases of litigation, including taking and defending depositions, drafting dispositive motions, negotiating settlements, and managing all aspects of discovery.
Mr. Alvarez also represents and advises clients on a wide range of employment issues, including litigating whistleblower retaliation and trade secrets claims; drafting and negotiating employment, severance, and general release agreements; complying with employee leave laws; and drafting effective personnel policies. Heriberto has also advised corporate buyers and sellers on the labor and employment implications of mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. Alvarez received his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law in 2015. During law school he served as the executive operations editor for the Berkeley Business Law Journal and as an articles editor for the Berkeley La Raza Law Journal. While in pursuit of his J.D., Mr. Alvarez was an intern in Berkeley Law’s International Human Rights Law Clinic, where he was awarded the Prosser Prize in its clinic seminar. Additionally, he served as a law clerk for the Civil Division of the United States Attorney’s Office, Northern District of California and interned at Nakagawa & Yamakawa Law Offices in Tokyo, Japan.
Mr. Alvarez is admitted to practice law in California and he is fluent in Spanish.
