Ivy Tang is an of counsel in Morrison & Foerster’s Hong Kong office. Her practice focuses on cross-border mergers and acquisitions and private equity investments.

Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Ms. Tang was a corporate associate in the Hong Kong and Shanghai offices of a major international law firm.

Ms. Tang received her LL.B. degree from East China University of Political Science and Law in 2004 and her LL.M. degree from Harvard Law School in 2010. She is a native Mandarin speaker and is fluent in English.

Representative Matters

  • Represented SoftBank, in its USD4.4 billion investment in WeWork and three joint ventures set up with WeWork to operate in Japan, Greater China and the rest of Asia

  • Represented Full Hill, a Hong Kong incorporated company that is controlled by the controlling shareholder of Guangdong Kaiping Chunhui Joint Stock Company Limited, a Shenzhen listed company, in its US$130 million acquisition of the high speed railway wheel manufacturing business of Georgsmarienhütte Holding GmbH by way of a cross-border share purchase transaction against consideration in cash

  • Represented Intel Corporation in an RMB9 billion (approximately US$1.5 billion) investment in a holding company under Tsinghua Unigroup, which would own Spreadtrum Communications and RDA Microelectronics

  • Represented Charoen Pokphand Group (CPG), Asia’s leading Thailand-based conglomerate with operations focusing on agribusiness, retail, and telecom industries, in its $1.8 billion cross investment and strategic alliance with ITOCHU Corporation. In the transaction, CPG acquired a 4.9% stake in ITOCHU (becoming ITOCHU’s largest shareholder), and ITOCHU acquired a 25% stake in CPG’s Hong Kong subsidiary C.P. Pokphand Co. Ltd.

  • Represented Ascendent Capital Partners in various private equity transactions.
