Jakob Schellmann is an associate at Morrison & Foerster’s German office in Berlin and a member of the Litigation Department. His practice focuses on complex high-value commercial disputes, often in a cross-border setting relating to international business transactions. He also has expertise in both international commercial arbitration and mediation.

In addition, Mr. Schellmann is committed to pro bono work. At Morrison & Foerster he is part of a team representing survivors of the Holocaust before German social courts claiming, inter alia, Ghetto pensions under the German ghetto pension program (ZRBG).

Mr. Schellmann studied law at the University of Potsdam, Germany. He further received a master’s degree in International Law with a focus on Alternative Dispute Resolution from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, USA. As part of his legal traineeship at the Supreme Court of Berlin, he worked, inter alia, for the German Federal Foreign Office in Berlin and the United Nations Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals in Arusha, Tanzania.

Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Mr. Schellmann worked as a research assistant for an international law firm in Berlin with a focus on labor law. As such he gained extensive experience in drafting contracts and litigating before German labor courts.

Mr. Schellmann is admitted to the bar of Berlin, Germany.
