James Hancock is an associate in the Litigation Department in Morrison & Foerster’s Palo Alto office. His practice focuses on the litigation of intellectual property disputes, including patent infringement and trade secret misappropriation, as well as complex commercial and securities issues.
Mr. Hancock represents clients across a range of industries including pharmaceutical and biologic drug products, telecommunications, environmental pollution and nuclear waste disposal, and high-technology industries. His experience preparing cases for trial includes six cases over the past four years. Mr. Hancock is also involved in the firm’s pro bono practice, including successful class actions on behalf of foster parents in Hawai`i to increase support payments and on behalf of veterans seeking medical treatment for exposure to biological and chemical substances as part of human testing programs conducted by the U.S. military.
Mr. Hancock received his J.D. cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he participated in the Barristers’ Council Trial Advocacy Division and The Tax Lawyer. During law school, he served as a legal intern for the House Judiciary Committee and a judicial extern for the Honorable James A. Teilborg in the U.S. District Court of Arizona. He received his B.A. in Political Science from Stanford University.
