Jane Kuzelka is a patent agent in the firm’s Palo Alto office. Since joining Morrison & Foerster, she has participated in patent prosecution in the fields of chemistry and biotechnology and has provided support for a variety of due diligence projects.

Dr. Kuzelka obtained her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of British Columbia and her Ph.D. in chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. As an undergraduate, she synthesized novel organometallic chromium complexes. Her graduate work focused on the synthesis and characterization of small molecule model compounds of dimetallic iron and copper metalloenzymes. Upon completion of her graduate studies, Dr. Kuzelka was a postdoctoral fellow at The Scripps Research Institute, where she performed research on the multivalent display of biologically relevant small molecules on virus particles. Following her postdoctoral training, Dr. Kuzelka was a scientist for several years at Calmune Corporation, where she used phage display to identify novel human antibodies against a variety of infectious disease and oncology targets. Dr. Kuzelka’s research has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Kuzelka is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
