Before joining MoFo, Janeene was a litigation associate at an international law firm, where she worked on white collar and fraud investigations involving the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, a criminal conspiracy and fraud case, as well as civil breach of contract and shareholder derivative litigation cases.
Janeene also has a strong commitment to pro bono matters. She has worked to secure asylum for an LGBTQ+ Mexican citizen and on an impact litigation representing hundreds of Mexican workers against ICE, DHS, and local police officials. She also represented a domestic violence victim in securing a permanent restraining order and has aided at expungement, naturalization, and elderly rights clinics across the San Francisco Bay Area.
Janeene received her J.D., cum laude, from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. While in law school, she was the 1L representative and academic chair for the Black Law Students Association and a member of the Moot Court Team. Janeene also studied at a top law school in France, the Universite Paris II, Pantheon-Assas, where she received her L.L.M. in European Law, with honors.
Janeene graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a double major of French and International Law and Human Rights. She is fluent in French and has a passion for learning languages and travelling.Show More
