Jens Wollesen is a senior associate at Morrison & Foerster’s German office in Berlin and is a member of the Employment & Labor and Privacy & Data Security Practice Groups. He advises national and international companies on all aspects of individual and collective employment law as well as on German and European data protection laws.

Mr. Wollesen assists German and international clients with implementing the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and has extensive experience in the fields of data privacy, cyber security and e-commerce law. He also advises on compliance systems, corporate policies, and whistleblowing systems. In his employment practice, Mr. Wollesen assists clients with corporate restructuring, including outsourcing projects and corporate acquisitions, and advises on the employment of management board members, managing directors, and chief executives.

Mr. Wollesen studied law at Université Paris Ouest, Heinrich-Heine Universität Düsseldorf and Freie Universität Berlin. He also holds a master’s degree from New York University School of Law (NYU). Before joining Morrison & Foerster, he gained experience as an associate with a major international law firm in Frankfurt.

Representative Matters

  • Assisted a U.S. e-commerce company and a leading German internet services provider in complex direct marketing projects prior to a roll-out in various EU and non-EU jurisdictions.  
  • Drafting of user general terms and conditions and privacy policies for public-facing media of German and international clients ranging from early-stage startups to large corporations in the technology, media and communications industries.
  • Advised various EU and non-EU clients with GDPR-compliant processing documentation, retention schedules and data protection impact assessments.
  • Assisted a leading U.S. recruiting and executive search firm on the processing of personal information of job applicants under EU law.
  • Advised a German/ Indian manufacturer of train track systems in an internal investigation relating to the disclosure of company secrets.
  • Restructuring advice to German affiliates of U.S. and Japanese software companies, including assistance with the establishment and liquidation of a German branch.
  • Comprehensive employment advice to an international manufacturer of construction material on a joint venture.
  • Legal advice to Gucci Germany, Yves Saint Laurent Germany, Bottega Veneta and other retailers in the luxury segment in all labor law matters and disputes.
  • Assisted in international M&A transactions in industries such as technology/ IT, media, communication, e-commerce, engineering, and automotive; primarily assisting with reviews of compliance with employment, social security, as well as data privacy and data security law.
