Jessica Bissey serves as Deputy Chair of the firm’s Social Enterprise & Impact Investing practice and is a senior associate in Morrison & Foerster’s Corporate Department.

Ms. Bissey is active in the firm’s impact, M&A, and corporate practices. She advises clients through their most significant and transformational moments, with a passion for bringing transactions from strategy through execution and ultimately to successful integration, and with a view toward business-minded solutions and driving measurable impact.

Ms. Bissey works with emerging and fast-growth companies, as well as their venture capital and private equity investors, in connection with organization, governance, and financing. She focuses primarily within the impact economy, supporting social enterprises of all sizes, mainstream companies seeking to have impact, for-profit/nonprofit “hybrid” organizations, and the full range of impact investors, as well as accelerators, incubators, and others interested in exploring how corporate structure and governance can promote and preserve mission and positive impact goals.

During her tenure with the firm, Ms. Bissey has been selected for two secondments to act as in-house counsel to clients of the firm. In 2015, Ms. Bissey advised a global public company in significant venture capital investment and governance matters. For the first half of 2016, Ms. Bissey led the M&A and strategic transaction efforts of a newly-public fin-tech company.

Ms. Bissey is currently leading the pilot year of a Legal Advisory Group for Echoing Green, a global social enterprise accelerator; she serves on the NextGen Leaders committee of the Northern Virginia Technology Council; and she is a member of the national Board of Directors of SEED SPOT.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Bissey was Vice President and Associate General Counsel of a fast-growth technology company and was previously an associate in the mergers and acquisitions practice group at Sullivan and Cromwell LLP in London and Washington, D.C.
