Experience

Acting for the liquidators of a Cayman Islands company, Saad Investments Company Limited, dealing with global banking disputes. Acting as part of this retainer in Byers and others v Samba Financial Group, a US$350 million claim brought in England against a Saudi Arabian bank in relation to the receipt by the bank of assets belonging to Saad in purported discharge of the personal debts to Samba of the Saad founder following Saad’s insolvency.

Representing a Japanese multinational in the defense of two competition follow–on damage claims in connection with the cathode ray tubes and batteries sectors.

Representing a publicly listed media company in matters arising out of a procurement process conducted by a national UK broadcaster for the provision of marketing services.

Representing a German manufacturing company in the successful defense of a procurement claim arising from a national rail contract award.

Acting for a large mining company in a US$130 million dispute concerning an iron ore mine in Sierra Leone. The case was successfully defended in the Court of Appeal.

Acting for the beneficiaries of a Nevis law trust with assets of US$400 million, successfully obtaining the removal of the trustee and protector and the recovery of all assets following interlocutory orders freezing the trust assets worldwide.

Acting for a Jersey trust company in a claim arising out of  fraud against a number of defendants worldwide, including in the Cayman Islands, the United States, Switzerland, and the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Acting for all of the major music (and other entertainment) companies, in particular in retail and wholesale administrations, such as Woolworths, Zavvi, and HMV, recovering their retention of title property.
