Julie Park handles a wide range of product issues for pharmaceutical, medical device and consumer product manufacturers. With a graduate degree in organic chemistry and experience as a pharmaceutical research scientist at Pfizer, Julie has a firm grasp of the technical issues involved in each of her cases. She manages complex cases in mass tort and multidistrict litigation proceedings, and has taken and defended numerous depositions of both fact and expert witnesses. Julie has litigated both product liability and consumer class action cases on behalf of product manufacturers. She has also successfully tried one jury trial and one bench trial to verdict.
Julie’s role as counselor extends beyond litigation. She regularly advises clients on product liability, including evaluating and recommending warnings; assessing compliance with federal, state and industry standards (including the Food Drug & Cosmetic Act, ANSI and the Consumer Product Safety Act); guiding clients through product recalls; and conducting risk assessments.
Clients appreciate that Julie takes a holistic approach to their cases, looking at not only the legal ramifications of their matters, but also the practical business repercussions when recommending solutions that best meet their objectives. Julie’s dedication to her clients has resulted in her selection by Super Lawyers as a “San Diego Rising Star” in 2015 and 2016 and as a “Top Young Attorney” by the San Diego Daily Transcript in 2011.
Julie is committed to thought leadership and is an editor and frequent contributor to the firm’s Class Dismissed blog (classdismissed.mofo.com), which provides insights on class action and product-related issues affecting consumer-facing companies.
Julie is also committed to pro bono service and diversity in the legal profession. While at Harvard Law School, she was on the board of directors and was a student attorney at the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau, a nonprofit law firm that provides free legal services. Julie has continued her pro bono work at MoFo and, for four of the past five years, has received the Wiley W. Manuel Award from the California State Bar for her pro bono contributions. Julie also serves on the Associates Steering Committee of Athena San Diego, an organization that promotes professional growth for women executives and rising managers in science and technology.
