Kevin Brown is an associate in the Litigation Department. He is a trial attorney whose practice encompasses a wide range of complex litigation matters.

Before joining the firm, Kevin was a Major in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served as both a judge advocate and a naval aviator. Kevin also served as a judicial law clerk for the Hon. Marcia S. Krieger in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. Kevin’s diverse experiences in the courtroom, in chambers, and on the battlefield give him a unique perspective on how to best advise his clients.

As a judge advocate, Kevin acted as a first-chair trial attorney on behalf of the United States in complex felony jury trials and assisted in supervising all federal prosecutions at three military bases in two states. Kevin also worked as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of California, where he prosecuted over 1,000 cases involving civilian criminal misconduct committed on federal property. He also managed a law office that provided civil legal services to active duty service members, dependents, and retirees, where he represented over 200 clients in civilian legal matters. Kevin’s experience includes criminal and administrative investigations, mediations, risk management, and strategic planning.

Kevin is also an experienced aviator. A former AH-1W Super Cobra attack helicopter instructor pilot with three combat deployments, Kevin has worked as an aviation safety expert, aircraft accident investigator and consulting expert, and crew resource management instructor. Kevin also managed the maintenance quality assurance division at the largest squadron in the Marine Corps, where he supervised over 140 inspectors. He has FAA fixed-wing and rotary-wing commercial and instrument ratings.

Kevin received his B.S. in Political Science, with Merit, from the U.S. Naval Academy. His passion for justice led him to serve on Brigade Honor Staff for two years and he received the Brainerd Award, which is presented to the graduating midshipman who made the greatest contribution to the Honor System. Kevin received his J.D. from the University of Colorado. While in law school, he served as a judicial extern for the Hon. Neil M. Gorsuch on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, for the Hon. Christine M. Arguello in the U.S. District Court of Colorado, and for the Hon. Morris B. Hoffman in the Colorado Second Judicial District. He also clerked at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Colorado and at a Chambers Band One litigation firm. Throughout his academic and professional career, Kevin received awards for academic achievement, writing, appellate oral advocacy, trial advocacy, leadership, combat aviation, and superior performance as a military attorney.

Because of his commitment to serving others, Kevin maintains an active pro bono practice focused on assisting forward-deployed active duty service members, homeless veterans, victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, and children.

Kevin is licensed to practice law in both California and Colorado. He is a member of the Louis M. Welsh and Hon. J. Clifford Wallace Inns of Court, the San Diego County Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.

When not practicing law, Kevin enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, skiing, fly fishing, and cooking.
