Kevin Jones is a patent agent in the San Francisco office of Morrison & Foerster. His practice encompasses a range of technologies, from life sciences fields such as cancer therapeutics, antibodies, and molecular diagnostics; electronics and software applications; and emerging technologies at the interface of biotechnology and electronics, such as microsystems fabrication for diagnostic assays and software for biological imaging. Dr. Jones’s practice involves patent application drafting, patent prosecution in the U.S. and abroad, patent due diligence, and freedom-to-operate analyses.

Dr. Jones completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles, and he holds a Ph.D. in genetics from the University of California, San Francisco. Throughout his research career, he combined technologies such as RNAi, confocal microscopy, and next-generation RNA sequencing with computational tools for image analysis and genome assembly to examine problems related to cancer biology, cell signaling, metabolism, and cellular growth. His research has been funded by fellowships from the American Cancer Society and the National Science Foundation. As an undergraduate, he earned a B.A. with honors in biology from Haverford College and conducted research funded in part by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Interdisciplinary Scholars program.
