Since joining MoFo in 2006, Kim Gosling has an impressive list of achievements under her belt. She has successfully first-chaired a jury trial to verdict, and she regularly leads complex motion practice and manages all aspects of litigation. Kim juggles a robust case load that is a mixture of product liability, consumer class action, privacy, and commercial matters. Her recent matters range from defending a social media company against a class action under California’s anti-spam statute to representing a computer technology company in an arbitration involving claims of employee raiding and trade secret misappropriation.
Kim has been praised for her ability to distill complex arguments into simple prose and to help clients map out a successful strategy for their cases. Her clerkship with the Honorable Jeffrey T. Miller in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California played a major role in her professional development, as it helped Kim hone her legal skills and gave her valuable insight into how decisions in the courtroom are made. And her accolades reflect the breadth of the practice areas in which she has put her talents to use. She has been commended by Legal 500 US in the area of Product Liability and Mass Tort Defense: Aerospace/Aviation (2014–2015), was named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers in Business Litigation (2015), and was shortlisted by the Chambers Women in Law Awards for its 2015 Future Leader Award.
Because of her commitment to social justice, Kim devotes time and energy to community service and pro bono matters. She has served for more than five years on the board of directors of the San Diego County Bar Foundation, which provides access to justice for people and communities in the San Diego region that are impacted by poverty, abuse, and discrimination. Kim’s strong record of pro bono work has earned her the Wiley W. Manuel Award for Pro Bono Legal Services from the State Bar of California six years in a row.
Kim received her B.A. in American studies, with distinction, from Stanford University, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She received her J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Kim is a lifelong San Diegan and enjoys the opportunity to have a thriving national practice based in the city she has always called home. In her spare time, Kim loves to run, read, and spend time with her family.
