Lorenzo Marinuzzi is global co-chair of the firmwide Business Restructuring & Insolvency Group. He specializes in the representation of debtors, creditors, and creditors’ committees in bankruptcy cases, workouts, and litigation throughout the country. His cases have spanned a number of industries, including airline and cargo transportation, mortgage origination and servicing, retail, banking and finance, energy, telecommunications, and oil and gas.
Mr. Marinuzzi is currently representing the official committee of unsecured creditors in the chapter 11 case of Walter Energy. His recently concluded engagements include representing HOVENSA LLC, as the debtor, in its chapter 11 case, the official committee of unsecured creditors in the chapter 11 case of Patriot Coal, Residential Capital, as the debtor, in its chapter 11 case, and Louis J. Freeh, as chapter 11 trustee of MF Global Holdings Ltd.
Mr. Marinuzzi is listed as a leading lawyer in Chambers USA, which has noted “his ability to convey positions to the judge" and describes him as “very smart and very patient.” He has also been recommended by The Legal 500 US, where he was noted for doing “an unbelievably good job in managing complex cases" and is ranked in The Deal’s Top Bankruptcy Lawyers, by volume (U.S. only) (Fourth Quarter, 2013). He was designated by Turnarounds & Workouts magazine as an Outstanding Young Restructuring Lawyer in 2007 and 2011.
Mr. Marinuzzi received his B.A. from Fordham University in 1993 and his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1996. While earning his law degree at Fordham, he was a staff member of the Fordham Urban Law Journal.
