Lukas has over 13 years of experience advising on Japan inbound and outbound mergers and acquisitions, complex international joint ventures and project development. He has particular experience in the energy, natural resources (ENR) and infrastructure sectors, having advised sponsors/developers on oil & gas, mining, infrastructure and renewables mandates in over 40 jurisdictions, with particular emphasis on South East Asia, Africa and the Middle East. He was recognized by peers in Chambers Asia Pacific as being “very strong on energy work.” Prior to practicing law in Tokyo, Lukas worked for leading international law firms in London.

In addition to his extensive ENR sector experience, Lukas has acted on numerous high profile mandates in multiple other industry sectors, in particular the technology sector. His clients include Japanese and non-Japanese corporates and Japanese trading houses, oil & gas companies and utilities.

Lukas graduated from the University of Oxford (BA, MA), where he majored in Oriental Studies (Japanese), following which he completed his legal studies in Oxford and London. In addition to his Japanese language skills, he is a native level speaker of English, German and Czech, and competent in various other European languages.
