Maggie Mayo is a senior associate in Morrison & Foerster's San Francisco office. Her practice focuses on trademark counseling and litigation, consumer class actions, and commercial litigation.

Ms. Mayo has represented and advised clients on a variety of matters, including unfair competition and false advertising claims, trademark and copyright issues, contract disputes, tort claims, and claims under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).

She has extensive experience in all aspects of managing complex litigation in both state and federal courts, including developing and implementing case strategies, drafting and arguing dispositive motions, and taking and defending depositions. She actively engages with her clients and enjoys developing case plans and strategies to achieve her clients’ goals.

Ms. Mayo’s dedication to her clients and her practice resulted in her selection by Super Lawyers as a “Northern California Rising Star” in 2016 and 2017.

Ms. Mayo received her J.D. from U.C. Berkeley School of Law in 2008. During law school, she served as a judicial extern to the Honorable William H. Alsup of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Ms. Mayo received her B.A. in Chemistry, magna cum laude, from Cornell University in 2005.

  • Smartphone Service Plan Litigation: Successfully defeated putative class action relating to smartphone service plan.
  • Contractor Licensing Class Action: Obtained summary judgment win for solar company in class action involving unfair competition claims, false advertising claims, and alleged violations of the California Contractors State Licensing Law.
  • Retail Advertising Litigation: Represents retailer in putative class action asserting unfair competition and false advertising claims relating to retail store signage.
  • Trademark Litigation: Represents not-for-profit foundation in trademark infringement action to enforce trademark rights.
  • TTAB Proceedings: Represents various clients in connection with TTAB opposition and cancellation actions.
  • Insurance Contract Litigation: Obtained partial summary judgment win for insurer in contract and bad faith dispute, resulting in the insured agreeing to pay the insurer to settle the matter.
  • Employee Benefit Plan Litigation: Represented insurer in state and federal actions involving fraud, contract, and unfair competition claims arising from defined benefit and welfare benefit plans.
  • Telephone Consumer Protection Act Litigation: Represented various clients in putative class actions involving Telephone Consumer Protection Act claims.
