Marc-Alain Galeazzi is of counsel in the Financial Services Group in the New York office of Morrison & Foerster. Mr. Galeazzi's practice focuses on advising and counseling foreign and domestic banks, financial holding companies, bank holding companies, and other financial institutions on a variety of bank regulatory, Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering (BSA/AML), and transactional matters.
Mr. Galeazzi has significant experience in advising financial institutions on complex regulatory matters, including matters relating to the Bank Holding Company Act, the Bank Merger Act, the Dodd-Frank Act (with regard to the Volcker Rule, Living Wills, and Enhanced Prudential Standards, among others), applications to federal and state banking regulators for expansion of activities, internal restructuring, and new products, sales, and acquisitions of U.S. banks. He also has expansive experience in advising U.S. and international financial and non-financial institutions with regard to corporate governance and compliance matters (BSA/AML, counter terrorist financing (CTF), and economic sanctions (OFAC)), and criminal as well as regulatory government investigations and enforcement actions. Mr. Galeazzi has also advised financial as well as non-financial institutions on various M&A and capital markets transactions, including equity and debt offerings and private or public debt exchanges.
Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Mr. Galeazzi was an associate with two prominent international law firms in the United States and he practiced law in Switzerland for several years.
Mr. Galeazzi is a member of the board of the Swiss American Lawyers Association of Greater New York (SALA). He is fluent in German, English, French, and Spanish and has a basic knowledge of Italian. He is admitted to practice in New York and Switzerland.
