Marc Hearron is a partner in Morrison & Foerster’s Appellate and Supreme Court Practice Group. Mr. Hearron has extensive experience handling appeals in complex matters, having briefed cases at every appellate level, including in the Supreme Court of the United States. He also has argued multiple cases in the federal courts of appeals and has a perfect record in his argued appeals.

Mr. Hearron’s appellate practice mirrors the wide-ranging litigation breadth of the firm, extending to a variety of areas such as bankruptcy, class action, financial services, intellectual property, and securities.

In 2015, the National Law Journal named Mr. Hearron to its elite list of D.C.’s Rising Stars. In 2013, Mr. Hearron was named to the National LGBT Bar Association’s list of Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40.

Mr. Hearron serves as a member of the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Amicus Curiae Briefs, which oversees preparation of ABA amicus briefs for filing before the Supreme Court and other courts. He was recently chosen to be a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. And he is a member of the Board of Directors of the D.C. Circuit Historical Society.

Mr. Hearron maintains an active pro bono practice. He was lead counsel for the Guardian Ad Litem in V. L. v. E. L., in which the Supreme Court of the United States summarily reversed the Alabama Supreme Court’s refusal to recognize a Georgia adoption. Among his other work, Marc has also submitted important amicus briefs to the Supreme Court in support of LGBT equality, and he has handled and won several immigration appeals.

Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Mr. Hearron clerked for Judge Carolyn Dineen King of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and for Judge Sidney A. Fitzwater of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas. Mr. Hearron received his J.D. from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, where he graduated summa cum laude and served as Editor-in-Chief of the SMU Law Review.
