Maria Castiglie’s practice focuses on complex commercial real estate transactions, with a particular focus on the acquisition, financing, and disposition of U.S. commercial real estate assets.

Maria represents lenders and borrowers in a variety of transactions, including mortgage and mezzanine financings, construction lending, leasing, and acquisitions. She has particular experience with multi-property transactions and loans intended for CMBS securitizations. Maria regularly advises financial institutions originating or investing in syndicated, securitized loans secured directly or indirectly by large-scale commercial real estate projects. Her practice covers a wide variety of asset classes, including office buildings, multi-family apartment buildings, hotels, shopping centers, mixed-use condominium developments, and land deals.

Maria also represents real estate developers, owners, and operators in connection with the acquisition, development, management, leasing, and ultimate disposition of real estate assets across the United States.

Maria is a member of the Emerging Leaders Committee of the Mattone Family Institute of Real Estate Law at St. John’s University School of Law. She received her J.D. cum laude from St. John’s University School of Law, where she was the articles and notes editor for the American Bankruptcy Institute Law Review. While at St. John’s Law, Maria received the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence in Business Reorganizations and participated in the Securities and Arbitration Clinic. Prior to law school, Maria worked for three years as an analyst in a New York investment bank.
