Maria Francisca Couto is an associate based in the Brussels office of Morrison & Foerster. She is a member of the Litigation Department, where her practice focuses on Antitrust and Competition.
Francisca’s practice encompasses all areas of Antitrust and Competition law, with a strong focus on merger control and cartel enforcement. She regularly advises clients on merger control filings before the European Commission and in global multi-jurisdictional filings, as well as in cartel investigations before the European Commission and national competition authorities in Europe. Francisca also has experience in international trade compliance and in international white collar investigations with a connection to Latin America, in particular Brazil.
Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Francisca practiced at a leading Spanish law firm in Lisbon and Brussels, as well as at another major U.S. law firm in Brussels.
Francisca graduated from the Faculty of Law of NOVA University (Lisbon) in 2013. She received an LL.M. degree from the College of Europe (Bruges) in 2014, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Economics for Competition Law from King’s College London in 2017.
Francisca is a Portuguese qualified lawyer and a member of both the Portuguese and Belgium bars. She is a native Portuguese speaker, fluent in English and Spanish and proficient in French.Show More
