Max Fei is a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Group and focuses his practice on all aspects of domestic and international patent prosecution and portfolio counseling. Max has handled matters across the entire lifespan of a patent, including application drafting, office action responses, inter partes review proceedings, and patent litigation in district courts.  He has drafted and prosecuted patents in a variety of technology areas, including augmented reality, computer vision, machine learning, artificial intelligence, global positioning systems, signal processing, user interface design, and software architecture.

Max also works closely with clients on compliance with the U.S. Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act, advising on pre-market regulatory issues, helping to develop viable regulatory strategies and implement them.

Prior to joining the firm, Max interned at Boeing and in semiconductor manufacturing, during which he performed statistical analyses and implemented statistical process controls on multiple high-volume manufacturing processes.

Max earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School. During law school, he worked as a patent prosecution summer associate and drafted office action responses involving software, semiconductors, medical devices, drones, telecommunications, and virtual reality. He also performed due diligence analysis for valuing a potential acquisition of a patent portfolio.

Max obtained his M.S. in materials science and engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, where he studied synthesis and application of nanomaterials for functional bioimaging and cancer detection. He received his B.S., summa cum laude, in mechanical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis.

Max is admitted to practice in California and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
