Dr. Mayra Lissette Garcia is a Patent Agent in the firm’s Intellectual Property Group in the San Diego office. Her current practice includes preparation and prosecution of patent applications as well as assisting with due diligence matters, patent landscape assessments, freedom to operate analysis, and patentability analysis.

Dr. Garcia works with clients in a number of areas, including therapies targeting cancer, immunological diseases, and infectious diseases, biologics such as antibodies, pharmaceuticals, and diagnostics for personalized medicine.

Dr. Garcia has a background in microbiology, immunology, and cancer. Dr. Garcia received her Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Yale University. Her doctoral research focused on the regulatory role of the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway in hepatitis B virus replication, the role of the innate and adaptive immune response to HBV infection, and development of antiviral drugs. Dr. Garcia received her bachelor’s degree with honors in Microbiology from California State University Long Beach. While at Cal State Long Beach, Dr. Garcia conducted research on trafficking pathways that mediate intracellular transport of proteins in yeast as part of an honors research program. Dr. Garcia has authored and co-authored several scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and has presented her work at several national and international scientific conferences. While attending graduate school, Dr. Garcia worked at the Yale University Office of Cooperative Research to assist in technology commercialization of inventions and discoveries from research conducted at Yale University.
