Molly Smolen is an associate in the Litigation Department. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where she received the Jamison Prize for Scholarship and Advocacy, awarded at graduation to a top student and advocate.
At Berkeley, Ms. Smolen served as the senior executive editor of the California Law Review. She won prizes for brief writing and oral argument in the Roger J. Traynor Moot Court Competition, and took first place in the Bales Mock Trial Competition. Ms. Smolen earned Jurisprudence Awards in Criminal Procedure and Civil Trial Practice, and Prosser Prizes in Introduction to Intellectual Property and Criminal Field Placement Ethics Seminar. During law school, Ms. Smolen worked as a legal extern in the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of California.
Ms. Smolen received her B.A. with honors in 2010 from Saint Mary’s College of California. Before starting college, Ms. Smolen performed extensively as a principal dancer with several international ballet companies.
Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Ms. Smolen served as a law clerk to the Honorable Jeffrey S. White and the Honorable Susan Y. Illston, both at the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.
