Otis Littlefield is a partner in Morrison & Foerster's San Francisco office. Dr. Littlefield's practice focuses on representing life science clients, including biotechnology, pharmaceutical, agricultural biotechnology, and medical device companies.

He specializes in two main areas: intellectual property-related business transactions and patent prosecution. He counsels clients in life sciences related areas for protection of products including biologicals for therapy, prophylaxis, and industrial applications (e.g., antibodies, vaccines and adjuvants, cell-based  applications, gene therapy, etc.) and diagnostics (e.g., high throughput screening technologies, microarray technologies, bioinformatics, molecular biology base technologies, etc.). His prosecution practice focuses on portfolio strategy development and implementation, management, and evaluation (including strategic use of interferences, re-examinations, and reviews). Dr. Littlefield’s practice also includes conducting due diligence studies in connection with venture capital, private and public financing, and mergers and acquisitions.

In the area of intellectual property-related business transactions, Dr. Littlefield has represented a variety of life science companies on a broad range of transactions, including in- and out-licenses, drug discovery and development agreements, clinical trial agreements, manufacture and supply agreements, joint research and development agreements, commercialization agreements, strategic joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions.
