Peter Pfister served as Chair of Morrison & Foerster from 1993 to 1997, with responsibility for all aspects of the firm’s professional, strategic and financial decisions. Before becoming Chair of the firm, Mr. Pfister served as a Managing Partner from 1990 to 1993, and was responsible for coordinating all practice areas in the firm's 14 offices at the time. From 1986 to 1990, he served as Chair of Morrison & Foerster's firm-wide Litigation Department. He now serves as one of the firm's General Counsel.

Mr. Pfister’s litigation practice includes antitrust, securities, intellectual property and professional liability actions.

Mr. Pfister's antitrust work has ranged from pretrial and trial of industry-wide price-fixing and monopolization cases to antitrust counseling. He has negotiated with both the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice on mergers, and has represented companies and individuals in government grand jury proceedings and civil investigations, as well as in private treble damage actions. Mr. Pfister’s securities work has included defense of class actions and SEC enforcement proceedings. He has represented companies, officers, directors and special committees of directors in matters involving a range of disclosure and other business judgment issues. Mr. Pfister’s intellectual property experience has included patent and copyright litigation in federal courts and the International Trade Commission, as well as in European jurisdictions in association with local counsel. The patent litigation has primarily involved semiconductor and other computer technologies. Mr. Pfister's professional liability litigation has included representation of attorneys and law firms in professional negligence and fraud claims, as well proceedings involving sanctions and disqualification issues.

Mr. Pfister has also had litigation experience in cases involving various aspects of banking, real estate fraud, government procurement fraud, and white collar crimes.
