Sarah Prutzman is an associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property Group. Ms. Prutzman focuses her practice on intellectual property litigation, including patent, design patent, trade secret, trademark, and copyright disputes. She has experience litigating in U.S. district courts and before the U.S. International Trade Commission. Ms. Prutzman also maintains an active pro bono practice that includes representation of children denied special education services.
Before attending law school, Ms. Prutzman worked in the Sleep and Cognitive Neuroscience Research Laboratory at Boston University Medical Center, where she co-authored scientific articles on the neurobiology of sleep and memory.
From 2013-2018, Ms. Prutzman was named to Super Lawyers’ New York-Metro Rising Stars list for intellectual property litigation.
Ms. Prutzman received her J.D. magna cum laude from Fordham University School of Law, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif. She received her B.S. from Brown University. Ms. Prutzman previously volunteered as a law clerk to the Honorable Shira A. Scheindlin of the Southern District of New York.

Alcon Laboratories, Inc. v. Lens.com and Alcon Laboratories, Inc. v. Allied Vision Group, et al.(Eastern District of New York). Representing Alcon in two trademark infringement litigations involving importation of gray market contact lenses.
G&W Labs v. GW Pharmaceuticals Inc.(Southern District of New York). Represented GW Pharma in a trademark infringement litigation regarding its use of GW PHARMA on pharmaceuticals.
Chiesi USA, Inc., et al. v. Sandoz Inc., et al.(District of New Jersey). Represented Sandoz Inc., Sandoz AG, and ACS Dobfar Info SA in patent litigation under the Hatch-Waxman Act involving Sandoz’s generic version of Cardene I.V. Premixed Injection, a medication used for the short-term treatment of high blood pressure. Case settled favorably before trial.
Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V., et al. v. Cinram International Inc., et al. (Southern District of New York). Represented Universal Music Group Manufacturing & Logistics Inc., Entertainment Distribution Company (USA) LLC, and Entertainment Distribution Company LLC in a nine-day jury trial and two two-day bench trials in a patent infringement lawsuit involving compact discs.
Purdue Pharma L.P., et al. v. Sandoz Inc.(Southern District of New York). Represented Sandoz Inc. in a 12-day bench trial under the Hatch-Waxman Act regarding Sandoz’s generic version of the pain medication OxyContin. Case settled on favorable terms shortly before judgment.
M.H., et al. v. The Mount Vernon City School District, et al.(Southern District of New York). Representing students with disabilities in litigation alleging systemic violations of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Negotiated favorable settlement with the Mount Vernon City School District. Litigation is ongoing against the New York State Department of Education.
