Sarah Stothart focuses her practice on complex commercial and securities litigation.

Sarah is a litigation associate in the Palo Alto office and is a member of the firm’s Securities Litigation, Securities Enforcement, and Investigations + White Collar Defense groups. She has represented clients in matters including securities class actions and derivative claims, intellectual property disputes, technology disputes, competition issues, tort and contract claims, and other high-stakes commercial matters.

Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Sarah was an associate at a large Canadian law firm. She has appeared before both trial and appellate level courts, including an appearance on behalf of the successful Appellant before the Supreme Court of Canada in late 2019 on the foundational issue of whether intent to prove harm is required to recover profits in a large-scale consumer class action.

Sarah earned her J.D. from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, where she was a Philip C. Jessup International Moot competitor and coach. She obtained her B.A. in political studies from Queen’s University, ranking on the dean’s honor list with distinction and with a specialization in international relations.

Sarah has lived and studied in Canada, the Netherlands, and Hong Kong, and is admitted to practice in California and Ontario, Canada.
