Dr. Sejin Ahn is a patent agent in the firm’s San Diego office. Her practice focuses on patent prosecution in the areas of life sciences, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. She has prior research experience in scientific disciplines including molecular biology, genetics, genomics, immunology and microbiology. She also has experience with patentability and patent landscape analyses.

Prior to joining the firm, she worked as a patent technical specialist. Dr. Ahn has experience drafting and prosecuting patents in the areas of protein therapeutics, including antibody and enzyme therapeutics for cancer therapy and therapy for inflammation and other diseases, diagnostics and gene-based therapies.

Dr. Ahn received her Ph.D. in genetics from Harvard University in 2010, where her research focused on deciphering molecular mechanisms of glucose-dependent transcriptional regulation in fission yeast using genetics, genomics and molecular biology. Prior to graduate school, Dr. Ahn worked at the National Institutes of Health, studying T cell development in mice.  She obtained her B.S. in biological sciences in 2002 from Seoul National University, in South Korea. Dr. Ahn also worked as a volunteer research scientist in the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador.

She is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and she is fluent in Korean.
