Shiukay Hung is an associate in the Federal Tax Group and is based in Morrison & Foerster LLP’s New York office.
Mr. Hung has a broad-based transaction-oriented U.S. federal and international income tax practice focused on structuring and negotiating the tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, securities offerings including financial products, real estate investment trusts (REITs), and renewable energy investments.
In 2012, Mr. Hung was seconded to one of the largest sovereign wealth funds in Asia where he was the sole in-house U.S. tax advisor relied on for planning and structuring various investments in private equity and hedge funds, managed accounts, and infrastructure projects.
Mr. Hung is a frequent legal commentator on topics of U.S. international taxation for major Chinese media including Phoenix TV, a television station headquartered in China with a viewer base in the hundreds of millions. In addition, Mr. Hung is also a regular contributor for MoFo Tax Talk, the firm’s quarterly tax newsletter.
Mr. Hung earned his LL.M. with a concentration in tax from Harvard Law School (2008), his LL.B. from the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Law (2006), where he graduated near the top of his class as a Wesbrook Scholar, and his B.Sc. from the University of British Columbia (2003).
