Dr. Stephanie Choing is a member of the Intellectual Property Group. Her practice focuses on prosecution of U.S. and international patent applications in the areas of process chemistry and pharmaceuticals. She also has experience in conducting freedom-to-operate and patentability analyses.

Dr. Choing received her Ph.D. in physical chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley. In her graduate studies, she examined the kinetics of surface catalysis on thin film metal oxide semiconductors and excitation pathways of light absorbing organometallic molecules for use in solar fuel systems. Her research experience includes technical training in time-resolved x-ray and optical laser techniques, vacuum systems and electrochemistry.

During her time at Berkeley, Dr. Choing participated in the American Jobs Project at the Goldman School of Public Policy, where she assisted in the preparation of technical analyses for small business investment opportunities in clean technology (solar, biofuels, and wind). She is also an alumna of the Cleantech-to-Market (C2M) program through Haas School of Business. Under the C2M program, Dr. Choing conducted technical and market analyses for technology in the heat-to-electricity conversion space related to thermoelectrics, thermionics, and Microelectromechanical systems (MEMS).

She received her B.A. in organic synthesis at Northwestern University, with an emphasis in medicinal chemistry. Her undergraduate research focused on enzymatic inhibitors for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.

Dr. Choing is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
