A former R&D manager, Dr. Steven Sundberg provides patent prosecution and IP diligence services for a variety of clients in the life sciences, clinical diagnostics, medical devices, and clean tech industries.
Steve’s experience includes patent prosecution in the areas of molecular barcoding, optical biosensors, spectroscopy and imaging techniques, microfluidics-based protein characterization and cell analysis technologies, next-generation sequencing, machine learning methods as applied to cell analysis, clinical diagnostics, 3D printing and manufacturing, guidance of robotic endoscopes, and carbon capture technologies.
Prior to working in intellectual property, Steve was a bioassay systems development consultant focused on technical program planning and management for early-stage and established life sciences, biopharmaceuticals, and diagnostics companies. Steve also previously worked for Intel, where he co-managed a multidisciplinary R&D group focused on novel bioanalysis and detection technologies. Prior to joining Intel, Steve held R&D positions of increasing responsibility at several successful early-stage companies, including Affymax (with a focus on fluorescence detection and microarray technologies) and Caliper Technologies (with a focus on microfluidic devices and systems).
Steve earned his B.A. in physics and his Ph.D. in biophysics from the University of California, Berkeley. Additionally, he was a postdoctoral fellow at both the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the University of California, San Francisco.Show More
