Takahiro (Tak) Miura is Of Counsel in the firm’s Intellectual Property Group. Mr. Miura focuses his practice on patent litigation, pre-litigation counseling, license negotiations, opinion work, and intellectual property transactions concerning electrical and mechanical technologies. Mr. Miura has advised on technologies such as digital imaging products, display devices, wireless network products, data storage devices, medical devices, light-emitting diodes, optical switches, motors and semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
Before joining the firm, Mr. Miura worked for Sony Corporation for over 20 years in both Japan and in the United States. While with Sony, he was responsible for overseeing U.S. patent litigations involving a wide range of technologies in the electrical and mechanical fields and was also responsible for worldwide patent prosecution for all Sony groups. Experienced in both corporate and law firm settings, Mr. Miura is particularly skilled at understanding and providing practical business solutions to the complex legal and technical issues that his clients face.
Mr. Miura has lectured on U.S. patent litigation for the WU21 (former D-7) advanced course of the Japan Intellectual Property Association (JIPA) since 2000. He has also lectured at law schools and various other organizations in Japan.
Mr. Miura received his B.E. in applied physics from Waseda University in 1983 and his J.D. cum laude from Pace University School of Law in 1995.
Mr. Miura is a gaikokuho-jimu-bengoshi registered in Japan and a member of the Daiichi Tokyo Bar Association.
