Tian Zhou is an associate in Morrison & Foerster’s Shanghai office. Her practice focuses on a diverse range of corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, regulatory and compliance and other general corporate matters.

Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, she worked at several leading UK law firms.

Ms. Zhou obtained her LL.B. and LL.M. degrees from Fudan University in China. She was the winner of Coudert Brothers LLP Scholarship in 2004. She also won the Outstanding Graduate Award of Shanghai Municipality and obtained the Chiang Chen Scholarship from 2006 to 2008. She was named a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar at Columbia Law School in 2012.

Ms. Zhou is a native Mandarin and Cantonese speaker and is fluent in English.

Selected examples of Ms. Zhou’s experience include the following:

  • Represented the founder of a Swedish air purifier company in his firm’s sale to a transnational consumer goods company.

  • Advised a leading Japanese general trading company in its HK$80.3 billion (approximately US$10.4 billion) investment in acquiring a 20% strategic stake in a Hong Kong-based conglomerate holding company.

  • Advised a leading Japanese general trading company in its HK$159 million acquisition of a minority stake in a leading commercial coffee and tea supplier in Greater China.

  • Represented a Chinese publicly traded real estate developer in its acquisition of landmark real estate in Sydney as well as two major real estate projects in the United Kingdom.

  • Represented a Chinese subsidiary of a leading global specialty chemicals and performance materials company in its formation of a joint venture with another mainland Chinese firm to manufacture fumed silica in China.
