Tiffany Cheung, chair of Morrison & Foerster’s Consumer Class Actions practice group, is sought after for her expertise and successful track record in defending clients in consumer class actions across a broad range of industries. She has extensive experience advising on Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) disputes as well as matters involving unfair business practices and consumer fraud laws in courts throughout the United States.
Ms. Cheung has represented numerous Fortune 500 companies in TCPA litigation including McKesson Corporation, LexisNexis, and 24 Hour Fitness, among others. She also advises on the intricacies of the TCPA and CAN-SPAM Acts, ensuring that clients have compliant policies and practices. In addition, Ms. Cheung does substantial work in the area of privacy and data security, and has represented clients in privacy litigation as well as investigations and actions brought by government officials.
Ms. Cheung’s clients include leaders in the technology, health care, financial services, and retail sectors. Placing a strong emphasis on understanding her clients’ business and developing effective strategies to achieve their goals, Ms. Cheung was recently recognized in 2017 by BTI Consulting Group as one of a small group of attorneys nationwide who represent the “absolute best” of the best in the area of client service.
Ms. Cheung is an editor and frequent contributor to Morrison & Foerster’s Class Dismissed blog and serves as a contributing editor for the TCPA Report section of the firm’s Financial Services Quarterly Report. As a thought leader, she often speaks on key developments in class action privacy litigation to groups of industry peers.
Ms. Cheung is committed to the firm’s pro bono program, and works on diverse matters including representing numerous clients in connection with guardianship proceedings and immigration proceedings for undocumented children.
Ms. Cheung earned her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley with high honors and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She received her J.D. from the University of California, Boalt Hall School of Law in 2000, where she was editor-in-chief of the Asian Law Journal. From 2000 to 2001, she was a judicial clerk for the Honorable Marian Blank Horn of the United States Court of Federal Claims and also served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Susan R. Bolton of the United States District Court for the District of Arizona from 2001 to 2002.
