Yosuke Unami is an associate of Ito & Mitomi. He specializes in financial markets regulation and structured finance-related matters. He regularly advises major domestic and overseas banks and securities companies on regulatory issues and derivatives transactions in connection with the Banking Act, the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act (FIEA), and the Commodities Derivatives Act. Furthermore, he handles netting opinions for master agreements relating to derivatives, repo transactions, securities lending transactions, and other over-the-counter transactions, including ISDA master agreements.

Mr. Unami serves as a member of the ISDA’s committees such as the Regulatory Committee and acts as counsel to ISDA in negotiating with regulatory authorities such as the Financial Services Agency on regulations surrounding derivatives. Most recently he has been advising on central clearing systems in relation to the introduction of mandatory clearing of OTC derivatives transactions.

Mr. Unami received his LL.B. degree from Keio University in 2004 and qualified in 2005. He received his LL.M. degree from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2014. He is a Bengoshi admitted to practice in Japan and is a member of the Dai-ni Tokyo Bar Association.
