Dr. Yuhe Liu leverages his academic expertise and industry research experience to prosecute patent applications and advise clients in a wide range of fields and technologies, including molecular genetics, genome editing, big data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Liu was a quantitative geneticist for Hi Fidelity Genetics LLC, where he established the company’s hybrid corn-breeding program and led the effort of implementing big data analytics to accelerate plant breeding. Dr. Liu also worked as a senior molecular biologist for Dow AgroSciences LLC, where he project-managed initiatives of high-throughput molecular characterization of genome-edited crops using next-generation sequencing.

Dr. Liu has authored a number of peer-reviewed publications in leading scientific journals such as BMC Genomics, BMC Plant Biology, Plant Journal, and Plant Molecular Biology. He sits on the editorial board of Frontiers in Plant Science, and serves as a peer reviewer for BMC Genomics, Plant Methods, and Plant Genome. Dr. Liu is a member of the Crop Science Society of America.

Dr. Liu holds a Ph.D. in crop sciences and an M.S. in statistics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. As a Monsanto graduate fellow, he focused his research on the discovery and characterization of genes regulating nitrogen utilization in maize. He received his B.S. in agronomy from China Agricultural University.

Dr. Liu is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and he is a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese.
