Yukihiro Terazawa is a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property Group. For more than 20 years he has concentrated his practice on various types of litigation and dispute resolution, including disputes relating to commercial transactions, real estate and computer system development, as well as to intellectual property, such as patent, trademark and copyright.

Mr. Terazawa’s primary focus is on representing international clients in Japanese litigation. In addition to litigation, he handles corporate investigations and regulatory matters involving complex compliance issues, including security and personal information breaches, as well as violations of product safety standards issued by the Japanese government.

Mr. Terazawa is a frequent lecturer on intellectual property rights, e-commerce, privacy (protection of personal information) and entertainment law at the Daini Tokyo Bar Association, graduate universities and specialized training colleges. He is a deputy chairman of the Daini Tokyo Bar Association’s Study Group of Intellectual Properties. In 2011 he joined the “Producer Curriculum,” a program hosted by UNIJAPAN to educate international film producer candidates. He has published two textbooks entitled, “Various Agreements for Film Production” and “Production Costs.” He also helped the 2016 Tokyo Olympic Bid Committee in its bid to host the 2016 Olympic Summer Games.

Mr. Terazawa was appointed a special member (mediator) of the “Dispute Resolution Board for Telecommunication Business Entities” at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication (MIAC).

Mr. Terazawa is recommended in the Dispute Resolution category of the 2018 edition of The Legal 500 Asia Pacific.

He received his LL.B. in 1989 from Keio University Faculty of Law, and his LL.M. in 1999 from the University of Washington School of Law. He is qualified to practice in Japan and New York, and is a member of the Daini Tokyo Bar Association, the Japanese Patent Attorney Association and the Asian Patent Attorney Association (APAA).

Mr. Terazawa is recommended in the Dispute Resolution category of the 2018 edition of The Legal 500 Asia Pacific.
