With the change in administrations, the financial services industry expected to see an uptick in state enforcement actions as state banking regulators and attorneys general stepped in to address any perceived throttling back of federal enforcement. After a year under the Trump Administration, have those predictions come to pass? Please join us as we examine trends in enforcement actions by state attorneys general and banking agencies and lessons learned from recent actions.

Our discussion will include state enforcement actions in several areas, including:

  • third-party oversight obligations of payment processors and other financial service providers;
  • unfair, deceptive and (sometimes) abusive acts and practices;
  • data breaches and consumer privacy;
  • student lending;
  • mortgage servicing practices; and
  • non-bank payday lenders and federal preemption.
