The First Industrial Revolution witnessed the emergence of mechanical production and the Second was fueled by electrically–powered mass production. The Third Industrial Revolution was driven by the internet and automated production. While some believe that the Fourth Industrial Revolution is an extension of the Third, the fact is, the future will be – and to some extent is already starting to be – driven by intelligent machines that can perform complex tasks automatically by communicating with other machines, with little or no human intervention. Therefore, these changes will bring significant changes to the way we live, interact, do business – and practice law.
