Cookies, E-Privacy and One-Stop-Shop: GDPR at the One-Year Mark
In the EU, cookies are regulated by the ePrivacy regime. The updated ePrivacy Regulation was supposed to take effect simultaneously with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and while we recently marked the one year anniversary of the GDPR, the ePrivacy Regulation is still far from being finalized. At the same time, regulators are not waiting for ePrivacy when it comes to cookies enforcement. What is the interplay between cookies, consent and the GDPR? Are cookie walls still accepted? Does implicit consent still constitute valid cookie consent? How does GDPR apply to other online technologies such as device fingerprinting and behavioral advertising?
Join highly experienced privacy partners Julie O’Neill and Alex van der Wolk for a data protection masterclass webinar that will examine the impact of the GDPR on the use of cookies and similar technologies, even in the absence of an updated ePrivacy Regulation.
