The presentation will provide an overview of the real estate market in Japan, with a focus on the investment and financing structures typically used by foreign investors in acquiring real estate assets in Japan. The presentation will include a discussion of the tokumei kumiai and the tokutei mokuteki kaisha investment structures and the most common forms of financing applicable to each. The discussion will also cover key considerations in a real estate acquisition in Japan including entrustment of real estate assets, the master lease structure, and compliance with the Financial Instruments Exchange Law (FIEL). Finally, the presentation will also discuss common challenges faced by foreign investors in the Japan real estate market.
