Transparency International-USA released its new Verification of Anti-Corruption Compliance Programs report on July 24th, 2014. The report is a culmination of research conducted by Transparency International-USA, expert guidance from an advisory committee, and company consultation, all in working towards the goal of raising standards of practice across corporate anti-corruption programs and elevating public confidence on the effectiveness of such programs. The report carefully examines five practice areas:

  • Reporting by companies;
  • Verification reviews performed by accountants, lawyers, and consulting firms;
  • Certification of compliance programs;
  • Compliance reviews undertaken by government-mandated monitors; and
  • Certification efforts in social and environmental areas.

The result is clear, implementable recommendations for companies when evaluating the effectiveness of their compliance programs.
