Changes to the FAR and the False Claims Act have expanded the obligations of contractors in the area of compliance management, provided for enhanced government remedies in the event of compliance failures, and enhanced suspension and debarment scrutiny of contractors that experience compliance problems. In this arena, the agency Inspector General’s and their staff play a critical role in performing compliance audits, investigating potential criminal wrongdoing and providing critical input regarding the potential suspension and debarment of contractors. This breakout session will feature representatives from three of the major Offices of Inspector General who will discuss the hot button issues they are encountering with respect to federal contracting compliance. They will also provide information on the nature of on their offices’ investigative processes as well as provide commentary on areas where contractors frequently fall short of fulfilling their compliance obligations.
